Reach the goals

My life has been a trade-off.
If I wanted to reach the goals I set for myself, I had to get at it and stay at it everyday.
I had to think about it all the time.
I had to get up everyday with my mind set on improving something.
I was driven by a desire to always be on the top of the heap.

Mean something

I want to do good. I want the world to be better, because I was here.
I want my life, my work and my family to mean something.
If you’re not making someone else’s life better, then you’re wasting your time.
Your life will become better by making other lives better.
I want to represent an ideal. I want to represent possibilities.
I want to represent the ideal that you really can make what you want.

Protect your dream

Don’t ever let someone tell that you can’t do something.
Not even me.
You got a dream. You gotta protect it.
When people can’t do something themselves, they’re gonna tell you that you can’t do it.
You want something, go get it. Period.

Good artist copy, great artist steal

How do you know what’s the right direction?
Ultimately, it comes down to taste. It comes down to taste.
It’s a matter of trying to exprose yourself to the best things that humans have done.
And then try to bring those things into what you’re doing.
Picasso had a saying,“Good artists copy, great artists steal.”
We have always been shameless about stealing great ideals.

Failed over and over and over again

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my life.
I’ve lost almost 300 games.
26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.
I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life.
And that is why I successed.

Pushing though the pain

As a magician, I try to create images that make people stop and think.
I also try to challange myself to do things that doctors say are not possible.
As a magician, I try to show things to people that seem impossible.
And I think magic, whether I’m holding my breath or shuffling a deck of cards. is pretty simple.
It’s practice, it’s training… And it’s practice, it’s training and expermenting,
while pushing throgh the pain to be the best that I can be.
And that’s what magic is to me. So thank you. (Applause)

Nasty place
Then the time come for your own man and take on the world and you did it.
But somewhere alone the line you changed.
You stopped being you.
You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good.
And when things got hard you started looking for something to blame like a big shadow.

Let me tell you something that you alreadly know.
The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows.
It’s a mean and nasty place. I don’t care how tough you are.
It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
